Rocky
has spent 60 summers in Maine, fifty of which have been at their family
cottage on Drakes Island, Maine. He was a founding member founding
member of SOS in 1993, has served on the Board of Directors and has been
its only treasurer.
While attending the University of
Maine in Orono, he met his wife Becky and they have been married for almost
forty years. Becky grew up in Maine and her family owns a cottage on Cold
Stream Pond in Enfield, ME so they have the privilege of enjoying Maine
on both the fresh water and ocean. They have been supporting endeavors
to protect both these natural resources. Becky is also a founding
SOS member and served on its Board for several years as Secretary and Membership
Chairman.
They have five children, all of whom
spent their summers on Drakes Island and continue to love to spend time
there with their spouses and children.
After graduating from the University
of Maine, Rocky served in the US Army for 4 years, including a one year
tour of duty in Vietnam. He spent 40 years with Furman Lumber, Inc.,
a national wholesale lumber company. He serves as treasurer of Edwards
Church in Framingham, MA.
His hobbies include sea kayaking
and he received his Registered Maine Guide License this spring. He
is currently working with Excursions Coastal Maine Outfitting Co. in Cape
Neddick, ME. He enjoys playing tennis and doing handyman projects.
His family is involved in SOS because
they care. Rocky says, "We want to do our part to insure that
the public, the politicians and other concerned groups work together with
a spirit of cooperation, harmony and respect in order to protect and preserve
the natural resources and wildlife of the Great State of Maine." |
