TIDINGS
MAY 2007

Now that the weather has settled into spring, the S.O.S. Maine Board of Directors has begun to plan for the Annual Meeting.  Save the date:  July 14th at The Coastal House on Route One again this year.  We hope for a good turnout because there are many concerns and issues that need to be addressed.

We need you, our members, to be involved in the planning.  Please help us to look back as well as towards the future by responding to the survey below. Thanks for your help.

What do you consider the most pressing concerns as a member of SOS Maine?  Please rank your responses in your reply (1 = Most important).
Excessive regulation:
Ability to maintain and/or repair property:
Beach nourishment:
The State policy of managed retreat from the coast:
Bird restrictions:
Present beach restrictions:
Other (Please provide item):
Your E-Mail Address:

We need your responses by June 15 so we can arrange for speakers for the Annual meeting who can address our concerns.  We would be interested in information about successful efforts in other areas of the country that we could pursue here in Maine.

Visual evidence of the changes to the beach would help support any effort we decide to make towards influencing the State and Federal government agencies to address our needs. Do you have pictures that you would allow us to use?

Photos may include:

  • Dune systems, beaches and marsh as they were 10, 20 or more years ago
  • Storm damage
  • The present condition of private and/or public property
Please e-mail photos to photos@sosmaine.org, or mail to the address below.
